About Travis J Freeze

To me, my art is fairly abstract and simple. My process is just drawing lines, straight or curved and fitting them together in a smooth and 'natural' way. I am heavily inspired by nature and the way it interacts with man made objects. Plants, animals, and cellular processes to me all follow the same 'rules' of lines that I apply to my art as I'm drawing. I typically create a batch of 4-10 pieces in a day. Those pieces are then scanned digitally and then traced and redrawn digitally. If I think a piece could be further refined, then I color the sections in with an assortment of colors.

For me, drawing has been a recently developed hobby. In school, Art class was not my favorite nor my strongest subject. Math and science definitely took precedence and I went to school to be an engineer. Unfortunately due to Covid I dropped out of Community College and have been working full-time since.

in December of 2021 my mental health began to gently glide into depression and around the beginning of April I took up drawing to try and lift myself out of it. A few lines later, I found myself enjoying the physical act of drawing, and to have a tangible creation that I could look at when I didn't feel like drawing. At the end of April, my dad passed suddenly. It was a shock and it was a wake-up call for me. I had been drawing for a few weeks by then but I never got the chance to show my dad anything that I had drew. It isn't something that haunts me or that I hold against myself but since then I have made an active effort to show people the art I can create and it has given me a boost mentally to do so.
